Our Story

Greeting Tree Fields was formed by two hard working individuals, Matthew Dowd and Taylor Smith, with the vision of sharing our love of chili peppers and all things spicy. Not only that, but to make an economical difference by aiding our population of honeybees in Southeast Missouri. Being friends for several years before the formation of this company made this transition a no-brainer. With hard work, determination, and a love for our agricultural community, we are certain we can accomplish anything.

“Where does the name Greeting Tree Fields come from?”

In the late 1960’s to early 1970’s Matt’s father, Mark Dowd, moved out to this farm when he was only 10 years old after Matt’s grandfather bought the place. Since that day, Mark and his father worked hard on the land and ran cattle, all the while Matt’s great grandfather couldn’t help but notice this tree. As time went on, many comments were made by him saying, “This would make a great Christmas Tree.” In time, that tree would also be given a name, by which we still refer to it today. Due to how it is set apart from other trees like it and how it was always the first thing you see when you get back home, almost as if it was greeting you, it became known as The Greeting Tree.
